Until 1922, Lederzeele was one of the largest communes in Flanders. At that date, with the agreement of all it was divided in two. The south of the territory forming the new municipality of Nieurlet which essentially comprises the Flemish side of the marsh audomarois.
The new village of Lederzeele is in large part on the tiny hills that limit the Flanders Indoor. This earned him maintain pastures and woods that make up the spell of the place and allow for wonderful hikes.
The Haeneberg 35 m above sea level is the highest point of the basin of the Yser.
Near the church, a castle mound (private property not visible from the public domain) reflects the long history of the village along the old Roman road through the village (now the road that connects Watten Cassel).
William of Lederzeele, Lord Cross in the company of the Count of Flanders, brought the name of this small town up the East.
Remained in the village prosperous agriculture, Lederzeele hosts a pool of medical professionals that drive the industry and the businesses there.
