Upon reaching the junction with another river, they heard a noise like that produced the bells this time, newly invented. Shocked, the two travelers stopped for a moment and saw behind some thick trees a waterfall. One passenger said to his companion: "Do you hear the water sounds!". That is, according to tradition and legend, the origin of the name Laussonne who was first given to the river and the village built on its banks.
Since 1965, Laussonne is twinned with Niedergründau which lies 30 km from Frankfurt. Exchanges are numerous and periodicals through the twinning committee and associations.
