Formerly, any means of communication not connected to Le Puy and Mount Mézenc. Two travelers to the mountain, followed the course of a stream bearing no name. Upon reaching the junction with another river, they heard a noise like that produced the bells this time, newly invented. Shocked, the two travelers stopped for a moment and saw behind some thick trees a waterfall. One passenger said to his companion: "Do you hear the water sounds!". That is, according to tradition and legend, the origin of the name Laussonne who was first given to the river and the village built on its banks.

Since 1965, Laussonne is twinned with Niedergründau which lies 30 km from Frankfurt. Exchanges are numerous and periodicals through the twinning committee and associations. Laussonne also maintains close relations with Fiorenzuola Arda (Italy), a town 30 km from Parma, who also owns the relics of St Florent.

On the CD 36, leading to Mezenc in the northern zone and Gerbier-of-Reeds, this charming village awaits you nestled around its 11th century Romanesque church which is a relic of St Florent.

The anglers will love the rivers and Aubépin Laussonne.
