This medieval city, smaller sub-prefecture of France, is named "Argentaria" silver-lead mines already exploited by the Romans. The main advantages of the city and surrounding area is a rich architectural and historical heritage and unspoilt. Located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche Largentière enjoys a Mediterranean climate while being backed by the foothills of the Cevennes.
