Laréole, the rebirth of a castle ...
Laréole Castle was built in 1579 Custom Stone Cheverry notable Toulouse and heir of a great merchant of pastel. Built in 3 years after the plans of the architect Dominique Bachelor, this castle-stronghold was the sobriety of the Renaissance castles built quadrangular unadorned. It is distinguished by its striped brick and white stone facade streaking. A set of colors that is reminiscent of Assézat hotel built by the father of the architect, Nicolas Bachelier. An influence that is also found in the courtyard decorated with a shuttle race. In the early 18th century, the castle was bought by the family Colomès whose approval of a French garden by welcoming more neoclassical sculptures of Marc Arcis.
In 1927, the castle between the inventory of Historic Monuments. However, it falls very quickly forgotten and left in a state of near abandonment. It was finally bought by the General Council of Haute-Garonne in 1984 in his desire to safeguard and heritage department. Therefore, the General Council undertakes major restoration work in order to protect the frame, the common management or restoration of the park.
Today, this castle has regained its luster. It is open to the public who may find its main floor, galleries, towers and a park. Guided tours are organized, but it is also possible to visit the castle freely. In the building of a library are common and a reception area with documentation and information on Laréole and its surroundings.
