Langonnet founding date of the 6th century when the Bretons emigrated from Britain.
The name comes from "lann" hermitage or monastery and "Chunuett", name of a Welsh saint.
In 818, tired of the disobedience of the Britons, the Emperor Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagne, gathers his troops and confront their king, Morvan Lez-Breizh ("the support of Britain") which then prevailed in central Brittany. Morvan was killed in battle near localized Minez Morvan Langonnet village close to the Abbey of Notre Dame.
Later, the story will leave its mark through an impressive architectural treasures like the Cistercian abbey where Spiritan missionaries founded a museum of African art, the parish church magnificent example of Romanesque art or that of Trinidad Langonnet.
Langonnet has beautiful hiking trails and a beach at the pond Pontigou, enough to satisfy lovers of outdoor activities.
It is also a town where culture is omnipresent in all its forms: traditional and contemporary music, dance, contemporary art.
