TOWN PRESENTATION
  • Lammerville:
  • District of Bacqueville-en-Caux.
  • Community of Municipalities Saâne and Vienna.
  • Arrondissement of Dieppe.
  • Rivers: Vienne, a tributary of the Saâne.
  • Origin of name: from Laomervilla or Loomervilla, a term meaning great fief.
  • History:
  • In the Middle Ages, Lammerville is the site of a fortress occupied and probably built by one of the oldest families of Caux, the Hotot. The family of Estouteville their successor. Next, we note the presence of the Heuze and perhaps Martel Bacqueville.
  • The Hundred Years' War saw the fortress destroyed by the Burgundians and the English, and several times rebuilt or restored.
  • The names of the owners of the fee remains uncertain, but in the 18th century one sees the Heurtault, of Spanish origin, which remain beyond the Revolution. Two of them know a certain celebrity. The elder, Jean-Louis Thomas, sign books warning the king against the revolutionary peril, while his brother, Jean-Marie was elected to the Convention. The younger branch of Heurtault Lammerville still exists and still has land Lammerville.

SIGHTSEEING
  • Walking route in "the wood of Madness" from the ordeal Lammerville center to the hamlet of Flamanville along the route of the River Vienne, on its right bank (approximately 1.5 km).
  • Church of Our Lady:
  • 12th - 16th - 17th centuries.
  • Tuff and sandstone.
  • From the 12th century remains only the bell tower. This curious building, walls alternating layers of tuff and chert, is characterized by the location of the lantern tower. It separates the nave and the choir in its lower reach of a ribbed. The building has two distinct parts: the church and a manor chapel, attached to the choir on the south facade. The church is dedicated to the purification of Our Lady, the chapel at Holy Name of Jesus.
  • Ancient Fortress:
  • 12th century.
  • Flint and mortar.
  • What remains of the fortress can come from a reconstruction carried out after the Hundred Years War. In the Middle Ages Lammerville is the seat of a small fortress, probably built by Hotot the 12th century. Surrounded by a moat wide and deep, it is part of a defense which, from the ducal period, includes spaces Brachy, Hermanville of Bacqueville and Beaunay. These spaces control the pathways of the valleys of Saâne and Vienna.
  • Gate of the manor chapel:
  • 16th century.
  • Peter.
  • Calvary:
  • 1528.
  • Sandstone.
  • Cemetery.
  • The base, imposing and beautifully carved coats of arms is different, most have become indecipherable. The upper part, a crucifix, probably mutilated during the Revolution, is replaced by a stone darker color.
  • Old Manor:
  • 18th to 19th century.
  • Brick and sandstone.
  • Built in red brick on a foundation of sandstone protruding slightly and topped with a small bell tower, the manor has two identical facades spans six vertical perfectly symmetrical on both sides of a door arched. The windows are filled with key stone facades, with cornice, a row of small black diamonds.
  • House of the 17th century:
  • A piece of wood.
  • Located on the road and the meadow where the ruins of the fortress, restored the old house probably belongs to the Middle Ages, the chief of the fief of Lammerville. Formerly thatched, with its outwardly projecting box springs, small openings and chimney of sandstone, it is clearly distinguishable from surrounding cottages.
  • House of the 16th century:
  • Brick, stone and timber frame.
  • Faguillonde.
  • The past of this small country house situated on the road to escape investigations. We only know that the 16th century, the tithe is collected by the Priory of Bacqueville. It is constructed of timber frame on brick and stone foundation combining between terminals of sandstone. The plan is in L. The floor is slightly overhanging. A corner post is a sculpture of a daisy.
  • Water Mill:
  • Beginning of the 19th century.
  • Pink sandstone and brick.
  • This old water mill converted into a dwelling house was still in service in the War of 1914. The course of Vienna is diverted at this point to create a fall.
  • Temple:
  • 1869.
  • Pink sandstone and brick.
  • The Mesnils
  • This temple was purchased at the cultural assembly of the Reformed Church of Luneray by Dr. Paul Ouvry, who made his home. It attests to the longstanding presence of a small Protestant community in Mesnil, linked to the reform movement which particularly affects Luneray and contributes to economic development.
