TOWN PRESENTATION

Labruguière, rich 1000 year history, will surprise you with its circular organization typical of the Southwest.

You will love its built heritage steeped in history: 17th century castle and its fortifications, hall of the 17th century bell tower is undoubtedly the most remarkable monument of the city, and half-timbered houses and corbels. A historic route you will travel through the centuries ...

Incorporated stronghold since the year 985, Labruguière was protected by a fortified wall once pierced by three doors, including that of Barry, in which just enters the roundabout. The facades of houses in the city tour return to the ramparts and accuse the circular shape of the village (the circulade).

Discreet in appearance, Labruguière reveals a very interesting heritage. The street-Camille Doucet offers such a beautiful row of houses with wood sides and cantilevers which, at No. 16, Louberssac the house, which has very interesting crows clubs. Built through the kindness of the Lord Peter de Lautrec who in 1266 granted many privileges and benefits to the locality, the halls were enlarged in 1618 to meet the evolving needs of its booming economy. Nearby, Place de l'Hotel de Ville, is the Church of St. Thyra, whose bell tower of the 14th century, imitated from that of St. Sernin in Toulouse, is the last vestige of the original building, destroyed by the Protestants in 1570. Finally, the Labruguière Castle, built in the 17th century by the family of Cardaillac Bioules on the site of a fortress from the 13th century, complemented Thore on the banks of the defensive system of the city.

The museum pays tribute to Arthur Batut the invention of the automatic aerial photography, another Tarn, the explorer browser Jean-Louis Etienne had the opportunity to practice during his solo expedition to the North Pole in 1986.


SIGHTSEEING

Cultural city, houses the museum Labruguière Arthur Batut presenting research on aerial photography kite. This native son is none other than the inventor of the automatic aerial photography using a kite in 1888. Discovery Tour Heritage, 35 km of hiking trails, biking trails, trail health, lake for fishing, weekly market, baptism paragliding, climbing, canyoning, flying clubs, tennis, leisure. On the occasion of a family walk, from late summer to early fall, you can pick mushrooms on the gentle slopes of the Montagne Noire. Highly prized for its finesse and nutty, the mushroom is eaten stir-fried in a drop of olive oil.

Escoussens village, 7 km. Capping a rocky hill, the village has retained its picturesque Escoussens medieval character. Alleyways will lead you straight to the 12th century castle built by Roger Trencavel, Viscount of Carcassonne, on the site of an ancient Roman hill fort. Destroyed in 1360, this fortress was rebuilt by the Carthusians of Saïx who made the seat of their administration. Seemingly innocuous, the parish church, however, has one of the most beautiful altarpieces Department (fifteenth century) and splendid cul-de-lamp which included among others the terrible''''Mouscaillou of Drac.
