Charming little mountain village, La Vancelle is located about ten kilometers from Sélestat, not far from Lièpvre, on the edge of the Haut-Rhin department.
Cited as early as the 8th century, the town developed at this time with the arrival of populations coming from the other side of the Vosges. Built on the site of a former hermitage, it became the property of the bishopric of Strasbourg from the 12th century until the Revolution. Completely burned down by the troops of the Bishop of Strasbourg in the 15th century, it rose from its ashes to take on the face we know today.
La Vancelle has developed in particular with the construction of second homes and other vacation homes. At the beginning of the 20th century, many wealthy families built villas and hotels here.
