Located a dozen miles south of Clermont-Ferrand, La Roche-Blanche enjoys a privileged location in the valley of the Auzon. It takes its name from its spectacular limestone cliffs carved caves that reveal an ancient cave dwelling.
In a few decades, it has strongly developed around the towns of La Roche-Blanche, and Donnezat Gergovie (Area: 11.60 km ²) to form a modern and attractive agglomeration at last count that counts 3213 inhabitants.

The commerce sector has recently reinforced by the creation of a multi-activity center gathered around a supermarket. The town also has medical facilities, dental, physiotherapy, pharmacy and clinic.
The school welcomes a kindergarten and primary school 238 students. The associational activity with over 2000 participants for a fifty disciplines, remains a strength of community life. Culture, sport and festivities are particularly well represented.
The common La Roche-Blanche is attractive by its tourism environment. In addition to its plateau Gergovia it comes to short distance from the Volcanoes Park, Puy de Dome and Central European Volcano Vulcania. It is also close to two structures known for their economic and cultural impact, the Grande Halle d'Auvergne (Fairgrounds) and the Zenith. Note that the surrounding communities also provide abundant opportunities for hiking (GR), hotels and restaurants.
The municipality is careful to maintain quality of life and the environment. The addition of the population is done for several years as part of a planning control. The habitat is realized in the form of houses decorated with various plantations. The renovations in the old villages also participate in the upgrading of existing assets. A commitment was made to develop rental housing.
La Roche-Blanche since January 2000 is part of the Community of Communes Gergovie Val d'Allier (over 19,200 inhabitants) and since September 2002 Country Grand Clermont "economic territory, gathering around the regional capital, hundreds of municipalities.
La Roche-Blanche is twinned with the town since 1991 German Empfingen, with which it maintains the best relations and trade mainly in the field of culture and sports.
