Doors to the Natural Park of Ecrins and Oisans, Alpe du Grand Serre is a resort made up of small hamlets. Perched on the neck of the Dead, it is located between the valleys of the Romanche and Roizonne.

The tourist resort of Alpe du Grand Serre is located in the town of La Morte whose name is still legend in Isère.

If we refer to scholars, "the Dead", is the original pre-Celtic, "mor-murr" meaning rocky hill. The Latin suffix "ta" is then added, the name evolved in the 13th century "Mortua", then in the 14th century by Mons Morta. But this name claim, one suspects, has encouraged the imagination fertile and gave rise to many interpretations and legends that have passed through the ages to enter the heritage of the station.

In 1939, a hotelier La Morte, proposes to name the place a more adapted to the new ski and tourism along the way name the fledgling station "Alpe du Grand Serre". It is in the 60s, when the station turned to winter sports the name of the Alpe du Grand Serre is adopted.

• Summer:

• Canyoning: Hiking fun pool in the stream of the waterfall, with a harness, a wetsuit and accompanied by a guide.
• Lounging: Along the Roizonne, lying in the grass or on a terrace, these moments of relaxation will soothe you like a makeover.
• Fishing: Fishing for all no permit to the water station. Loan of equipment by the Association for the Gouille to Trout fishing parties in the coup and fly. Fishing and sale by the kilo, during fly fishing supervised by a qualified fishing guide on the site of the Alpe du Grand Serre. Open from late June to early September.
• Rafting, hot dog, hydro ...
• Hiking and mountain lakes: During your stay, discover the Grand Serre, Taillefer, lakes Fourchu Brouffier or the cabin of the Perimeter.
• Climbing: 40 equipped routes around the waterfall. From 4 to 6 c on very steep slabs with some cracks and overhangs. Free topo climbing the Tourist Office and the sale in Isère Climbing Topo of FFME.
• Large climbing routes: Route of the Accu: access from the cascade of Alpe du Grand Serre. Track "Come see the Wolf" on Tabor and two lanes on the Tour Chamoissiere, Fontagneu located in the commune of Lavaldens. Free Topo available at the Tourist Office.
• Via Ferrata de la Cascade: Ranked Little Difficult (PD) and accessible to children accompanied. Total travel time: 2 to 2:45.
• Via ferrata du Grand Bec: Classified as "Hard Enough sup" (AD) for the first part and "Difficult sup" (D) for the second part. Travel time: 4h-5h at 6:30.
• MTB Cross Country: Come enjoy mountain biking on the station or in the valley of the Roizonne. Mountain bike rental possible. Outputs initiation, development, descent.
• Racing of middle and high mountain: Share the love of the mountains with tour guides: Via ferrata, mountaineering, rock climbing, canyoning, white water sports (rafting, hydro ...), mountain biking and hiking.
• The Cascade: To play, picnic or rest, the waterfall is a delight for children and the whole family.
• Eco tours: Discover with an attendant, in a fun and friendly environment, nature and the mountain environment!
• Mini-course: Have fun on the course of minigolf with 12 holes, located across from the Plain of adventure and of the water. Next to the mini-golf, the resort offers a bowling alley in the open.
• Orientation course: in Alpe du Grand Serre, the mountain becomes your playground Go in search of red and white poles. Topos for sale at the Tourist Office.
• Plain adventure: You will find a swing, a seesaw, a climbing wall, a slide, a zip and a wading pool suitable for children under 12. In the area: picnic tables and toilets.
• Tennis: Courts for hire. Tennis clinics for children and adults. Equipment loan. Info to the home mini-golf.
• Hiking pushchair: Five routes and shaded paths passable expect baby, mom and dad for his first steps in the mountains!

• Winter:

• Alpine skiing: 55 km of slopes, a large part in Bergeries, the altitude range of Alpe du Grand Serre. On marked trails or in the powder, let yourself go without waiting for unbeatable prices, including sun!
• Cross country skiing: Browse unspoiled nature and authentic. Enjoy the lookouts and privacy undergrowth along 20 km of groomed and marked trails.
• Glide Nordic: 15 km of trails groomed you will not get into the heart of the forest and enjoy the tranquility of an area 100% natural.
• Snowshoes: The mountain of the resort offer a weekly snowshoe trips in 1/2 day, day and night and weekends formulas to discover the Taillefer. The Tourist Office suggests five marked trails: 3 for beginners and 2 accessible to snowshoers confirmed. The specification of these walks is available at the Tourist Office.
• Ski touring: Outside of the ski lifts, during school holidays, find the rise to "seal skin" and the descent into large fields of snow and pine trees. A mountain guide you to discover cross-country skiing on the mountains around the resort.
• French Ski School: For beginners or advanced skiers, you will find among instructors, all graduates of state, know-how, competence and friendliness that the descent will be a pleasure.
• Guides office (open all year): The Office of Girl Guides and Escorts in the mountains of South Dauphiné is here to help you discover routes preserved in ski touring, off piste skiing, snowshoeing or upon a race or climbing an introduction to ice climbing. Information +33 4 76 81 14 56.
• Luge: A luge space free for children is arranged opposite the Tourist Office.
• Walking: We offer two routes walking tour departing from the Tourist Office. The first guide you in the heart of the resort and takes you through the Cascade. The second route passes through the station from east to west. You will discover wonderful landscapes.
• Club Trappers: Output snowshoes reserved for children 6 to 12 years to discover nature, make igloos, trappers course, searches for animal tracks and footprints, snow games ... Release in half the day Wednesday morning and afternoon during school holidays.
• Pathfinders Club: Pre-club for future ski champions. Introduction to competition.

• Late May: Day cleaning station. Collection of waste accumulated during the season in the village and the ski area. Fend organized by the association and participation of the Bise mountain riders. BBQ hosted by the association to participants of garbage collection.
• Welcome drink Chartreuse Soleil: Every Saturday from July 7 to August 25 from 11:15 to 12:30 at the Tourist Office, presentation of activities and entertainment for the week around a welcome drink.
• Permanence of Library: Mondays and Fridays from 17h to 19h. Rental of books and board games. Information +33 6 47 71 96 25.
• The little market: Every Thursday from July 12 to August 30, from 8:30 to 13h before the blue thistle (meats, cheeses, jams, honey ...).
• The musical events of Valbonnais: Each week, from mid-July to mid August, one or two concerts in churches of Commons of Valbonnais (detailed program at the Tourist Office). Admission is free, cost-sharing.
• July: Trail of Alpe du Grand Serre. The trail is a race which takes place mostly in kind on trails and paths that have important positive and negative gradients. Two courses of varying difficulty are available with two pit stops: Journey has: 1140 m elevation on 23 km - Sandy b: 540 m in altitude of 12 kilometers. After the race all competitors will have a buffet. Medical certificate authorizing the practice of the race.
• July: Meet the Wolf in the ear. Stories and music all day and evening, with the opportunity to participate in an internship.
• July: Fiesta Latina musical evening at the hall of blue thistle. BBQ and refreshments.

• In August, tennis tournament open to all. Unauthorized FFT tournament. On-site registration.

• In September: Derby La Morte. Downhill race bike. Descent of 23 km long and 1400 m of vertical drop. Organized by the Association Fend Bise (scheduled start of the race at the top of the chairlift Serriou).

• Adventure: Located Laffrey (23 km). Open 7/7 in July and August and the week-ends from April to June and September. Reservation in the spring and fall.
• Gateways Drac: Located on the throats of the Drac and Ebron. Unique site in Europe, two Himalayan gateways with a walking trail or bike and possibility of crossing by boat.
• Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette: Located in La Salette, Executive Body (50 miles).
• House of the Ecrins National Park: Located Entraigues (31 km). Exhibitions, reading room, video projection, lectures. Open July and August.
• Bungee Jumping at Ponsonnas (25 km). Open from April to October.
• Visit the farm and selling products at Nantes-en-Rattier (discovery of sheep, grain and environment) and Villard-Saint-Christophe (cheese: blue Matheysine, Tomme du Grand Serre ...).

• Festivities at Lavaldens:

• Mid-June: Great barbecue. The association Roizonne future invites you to a great barbecue open to all. A full menu (fee and by appointment) for the taste buds in the multipurpose room of Lavaldens with a musical and convivial atmosphere with refreshments.
• Late June-early July: Feast of transhumance Lavaldens. Introduce your child to the customs of the villages ... transhumance of sheep held over two days.
