Why Overseas? The abbey of La Lucerne, built in the 12th century, housed the monks of the Order of the Norbertines who had income from their farmland they owned in England (southwest). That is the meaning of Outremer.

The abbey was destroyed during the French Revolution and transformed into weaving factory. In recent decades, an association rehabilitates the abbey. From the spring, every Sunday at 11 am, Mass is celebrated in Latin in the church of the abbey.
