Located at 1 500 m altitude on a rocky promontory overlooking the valley and ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, La Grave village was surrounded by a fortified wall that has now completely disappeared. The village has kept a tight urban fabric as evidenced by the numerous alleys called "Trabuc" linking them homes. The church, listed historical monument, was built from the 11th century, and belongs to the Romanesque-called "Lombard". It forms with the Penitents chapel, the parsonage and cemetery together with a beautiful backdrop to the Glaciers of Meije.

ATTRACTIONS, LEISURES AND ACTIVITES AROUND
The cable glaciers Meije, transports you to 3200 m altitude, departure for trekking and ice climbing long routes, visit an ice cave carved into the glacier. This trip will offer a vertical view breathtaking. La Grave is also a village stage "Tour de l'Oisans" which is a circuit well known for hiking, but also the inevitable "plateau Emparis.
For children, climbing from 4 years old, walking tour on the Glacier for 6 years, many activities are organized by the Parc National des Ecrins.
Alpine Botanical Garden Lautaret pass: each year, from June to September, nearly 25,000 visitors discover the grandiose 2000 species of high altitude plants, a conservatory unique diversity of alpine flora such that observed on all the high mountains of the planet. The richness of plant collections and management in rock perfectly into the landscape make this altitude botanical garden one of the most beautiful in Europe. Dogs are allowed in the garden.
