TOWN PRESENTATION

In 1792 the town of Colle became common and took the name of La Colle-sur-Loup.

Its territory agriculture has always been an important place which was Vauban tell when one of its passages "This area is covered with vineyards, olive groves, fig trees, fruit trees and wheat."

Appears from the 19th century until the mid-twentieth century, the cultivation of flowers such as perfume orange blossom, jasmine, rose, which earned the title of La Colle "Capital of the Rose".

Between sea and mountains, the town enjoys a privileged location and a mild climate.

It is just a walk through its streets in order to feel an authentic life beyond the laws of time. You will discover antiques that will make you relive the past, merchants who boast the flavor and quality of local products, tables known.

For athletes, all disciplines can be practiced: mountain biking, canoeing, climbing, fishing, hiking ... Not to mention the swimming pool, tennis and bowling.

SIGHTSEEING
  • Visit the village (the village discovery tour available at the Tourist Office).
  • Religious or historical monuments:
  • Old jail: Rue de la Victoire. This old prison in the 17th century. The door window is original. Its development marked a first step towards "independence" of Collois.
  • Old Hospital "Good God": Rue de la Victoire. Its creation was granted by the Bishop of Vence January 7, 1723 in a house donated by a surgeon Collois. This former hospital significantly improved the lives of Collois. This was later a school and now private apartments.
  • Chapel of the White Penitents: Rue de la Victoire. Called for help, it was built around 1800 to replace the Chapel of the Rosary (No. 10). The White Penitents dedicated to the sick, the chapel was conveniently placed next to the hospital.
  • Perspective on St. Paul Avenue in the old station. The history of Colle is closely linked to that of St. Paul because it was one of its hamlets. It was in 1792 that La Colle-sur-Loup became independent and became a full-fledged joint.
  • Old Station: St Roundabout Bernart. This building served as a station for the tram from 1912 to 1932. The line started from Cagnes-sur-Mer Vence up through La Colle-sur-Loup. The village is very agricultural, it helps to carry the goods to the coast.
  • Eugène Sue (1804-1857): Place Eugène Sue. Famous writer through novels "The mystery of Paris" and "The Wandering Jew", his family is from La Colle-sur-Loup. In tribute, his bust was sculpted by a Collois and inaugurated by Simone Signoret in the 50's. It gave birth to the famous sketch of the telegram with Yves Montand.
  • Church of St. Jacques, Foch Street. In the late 16th century, the village of La Colle is not a commune, the inhabitants were engaged individually to finance the work. The Collois with few resources, the building was long and in three parts: first the aisle where the baptismal font. Then, the central part, with its neoclassical facade and portal Renaissance style was completed in 1658. The interior is baroque. It was not until 1673 that the tower that supports the motto of Collois "Concorde and work" was completed. The apse was added around 1833.
  • Chapelle Saint-Jacques Rue Foch. This was the first religious building which housed the faithful, before the construction of the Saint-Jacques. It dates from the 15th century and had a chair was installed outside so that the faithful, too many for this chapel can hear mass.
  • Chapel of the Rosary: ​​Rue Clemenceau. First White Penitents chapel with its adjoining cloister, was built in 1612. It is sold as a public good in 1792, there are now private apartments. The front door remained intact.
  • Gate Canadel: Rue Clemenceau. Vestige of the gate that gave access to the priory, which opens the way the oldest in the village that stretched to the entrance of Canadel.
  • Abbey Boulevard Honoré Teisseire. It was originally a priory founded in the 10th century. It represents the medieval heritage and the oldest of the town. It belonged to the monks of Lerins and the Bishops of Vence, before being sold to the Villeneuve family until the revolution. Subsequently, the part facing the valley became a private residence and the village was facing converted into a hotel restaurant.
  • Integrated into the Abbey and open to the public, the Chapel of St. Elizabeth 12th century. It is a jewel of Romanesque art and happens to be the oldest in the village. It is listed in the inventory of historical monuments.
  • Stroll along the Loup
  • By road: From the Tourist Office, take the street to the Klein gas station to the market U. Turn right towards Roquefort / Grasse Boulevard Honoré Teisseire, you will see the stadium and the gym on your left. Continue down the road from the stone bridge. On the left (red canoe) embark on the path of Fuontsanta to the base of canoeing, the starting point for hiking. You can park on the banks of the way of Fuontsanta.
  • Directions: From the canoe kayak, take the left path to the sign of the general council "of the Natural Park County Berges du Loup". Continue this path and flat without difficulty, to discover a large rock on the left (climbing site). After passing a small beach, one reaches a kind of crow's feet. Take the path up to the left (mild difficulty). This small effort is rewarded with stunning views over part of the canyon des Barres. Continue straight until a descent to retrieve the original path that is facing you. Turn left and continue straight until the road to Luon extreme point of the ride. The return is in the opposite direction to the base of canoeing.
  • Leisure and sports:
  • A climbing wall is available along the Wolf. You can get there with your equipment to practice on your own or ask the canoe kayak to bring along.   • You can picnic and relax in the town park's recreational Guérinière. Pleasant and shady, there is a garden playground for children.
  • If you are a fan of riding, two equestrian centers will be happy to offer horseback riding for children and adults.
  • Amusement park: The park Ludi. Bouncy castles, trampolines, picnic area, zip line, kids birthday tea, mini-golf. 4-hectare park. Restaurant on site. Admission fee. EVENTS AND CELEBRATIONS
  • The second Sunday of May: A Day around the Rose, in the village. Sale of roses, roses and cut flowers, Mediterranean plants and crafts around the flowers perfume, distilled rose water, gardening tips, and photo exhibition depicting the life sketches of the cooperative flowers perfume, folk dances, workshops for children ... But also, a space dedicated to poetry and art in all its forms.
  • In July and August: Summer Festival:
