The Brande of Mottes: Locality in the center of the township, and between Chambérat Huriel. He saw the gathering of Republicans led by the Canton-Fayolle Fargin in 1849. Their goal is to fly to the rescue of Ledru-Rollin in Paris. Indeed, it has indicted the third Napoleon and his ministers and the Assembly launched a call to arms. An appointment is given to the "Brand of Mottes" to organize a march in support to Paris. But the Parisian insurrection is suppressed and the troops of the insurgents to disperse Brande. Police arrest 43 of them are considered to Riom but found not guilty. Fargin-Fayolle, convicted, fled to Switzerland but is a prisoner in 1850. Sentenced to five years in prison, he was released after 3 years and then deported to Algeria in 1858. Pardoned in 1859, he became mayor of La Chapelaude. He was living in the house called the Priory, opposite the church, built in 1742. It still retains the superb woodwork and staircase leading to the 16th a cellar with a well inside (private property). Fargin-Fayolle was then elected councilor in 1871.

Church of St. Nicolas: The building, built in the 12th century yellow and red sandstone, surmounted by a bell squat, is the last vestige of the old priory founded by the monks of Saint Denis. The side door of the 17th is topped by a lintel which contains a cross surrounded by a sun and a moon. We find these enigmatic symbols on a tombstone with inscriptions half erased. The nave is very high, vaulted and the transept crossing, the dome is decorated with trompe l'oeil. These as well as paintings of the church date from the restoration of 1847-1848 during which the walls and ceilings stone walls are plastered.
