La Cavalerie is a fortified village, located on the plateau of Larzac, 7 km from the Millau Viaduct on the A75 motorway, exit 47.

Founded in the 12th century by the Knights Templar of Larzac La Cavalerie was fortified in the 15th century by the Knights Hospitallers.

After suffering significant damage during the wars of religion, the walls are now completely restored.
