• La Bastide-Clairence, Navarre 14th century country house, now listed as "Most Beautiful Villages of France".
• His story:

• In the 13th century, following a war, Navarre lost its sea access. The construction of La Bastide-Clairence in 1312 will allow the kingdom of Navarre to retrieve a path to the ocean.
• La Bastide-Clairence is a new city, which are attached rights and freedoms for new residents. Attracted by tax benefits, they then come to settle in any part of this royal city. From the 13th century, we observed a mix of Gascon, Basque and Francos. All received the status of freemen.
• Later in the 17th century another event will mark the village life: the arrival of a Jewish community expelled from Spain and Portugal. These Jewish families live for two centuries La Bastide-Clairence, bringing know-how among other chocolate.
• Today the tradition of craftsmanship is still present. A dozen workshops of craftsmen are open year round.
