The town of L'Oie is located 45 minutes from Nantes and 30 minutes from La Roche-sur-Yon.

Some tools from the Neolithic period were found on the town, and a deposit of bronze axes, then the village passed to the Iron Age, and invaded by Celtic and Roman.

The town has always been crossed by two major roads: the road salt from the coast and that of tin from the north west.

Traces of a camp Gallic and Gallo-Roman buildings have been updated.

L'Oie the 5th century, suffered invasions, including the northern tribes, and traces of a castle mound are still visible next to the castle.

The missionaries, in the 5th century, were Saint Martin and Saint Hilaire. With the help of the monks, the marshes were drained, cultivated the wasteland, and in the 10th century, the fair L'Oie was one of the largest in the Vendée ... L'Oie had to undergo the Hundred Years War and the occupation of the castle by the English religious wars did not spare either the village.

L'Oie being at a crossroads of strategic critical, many battles took place there during the wars of the Vendée 1793-1796. The castle served as a munitions depot and office recruitment for the army Vendee, it was looted and burned in 1794. Many soldiers were buried in fields, such as the fields of heaven where they remain. A new church was rebuilt in 1877, only with gifts ... Despite these troubled times, it's a village where Vendeen to live as in many others.
