TOWN PRESENTATION

L'Isle-Jourdain is situated in Gascony, the heart of the Southwest. Historically, Gascony is a large territory, a principality in South-West France. Despite its changes, Gascon identity remains throughout the ancien regime and until today.

Gascony is a vast territory located in the Southwest between the Pyrenees, the left bank of the Garonne and the Atlantic Ocean. Cradle of Gascony, the Gers is marked by history and still bears the traces. Field of the Musketeers, is also a land full of mystical emotion: the pilgrimage of Saint Jacques de Compostela.

Gers, temperate climate, its culture from the land, its habitat in nature, the hospitality of his Gascon and preserved environment is conducive to recreation and relaxation.

L'Isle-Jourdain located in Toulouse in Gascony is a mirror: it is an area growing population and economy that has maintained a privileged environment, it shares the landscape features of Biscay and the architectural style of the Toulouse region. That territory "the sun rises and sets Toulouse Gascon."

The territory is located outside the department near the city of Toulouse. It is part of the Portes de Gascogne Country, territory project whose main theme is based on welcoming newcomers and sustainable which includes all of Eastern Department.

This is a rural area with a high quality of landscapes: from east to west, the territory has 4 major landscape units:

Garonne terraces, an extremely flat; pujaudrannaises terraces crossed by a watercourse Coubet.

Coast Toulouse: terrain rises to 340 meters between the plain of the Garonne from the entire range Gascon, steep terrain, wooded important occupation, the villages are perched. This is the case Pujaudran and Lias.

Valley Save: Save the territory runs over 14 km. It is lined with very gentle slopes largely occupied by agriculture.

The hills of Gascony: a succession of lines, ridges and small valleys which offers panoramic views. Several villages have settled: Marestaing, Endoufielle, Auradé, Monferran-Savès and Clermont-Savès.

Landscape quality is closely linked to agriculture because it is the farmers who, through their business shape the landscape. The territory of present landscapes Savès Toulousain widely cultivated, the parcels are considered as the basic and very present. There is almost no farming or vineyard. The dominance of the earth primarily as brick raw or cooked as architectural material gives the area its component typical landscape: a landscape of pink bricks sometimes associated with pebbles. In fact, the frame usually appears as a decorative element red or pink walls, gates, shrines, wells and fountains themselves are decorated with a variety of shaped clay.

The pigeon, remarkable heritage elements on the territory, were once used to fertilize the land stretched by cereal crops.

Toulouse Gascony is an area rich in biodiversity, particularly along the Sava River and its tributaries, natural wet meadows, ponds, embankments.

The area displays a dual personality: a fertile soil deeply rural and agricultural, where deep-rooted traditions, cuisine rich with authentic local cuisine as duck, duck, confit, foie gras and other dishes are key words in plates ...
