Village at the rich history, Issy-l'Évêque probably owes its name to an ancient fortified town attached to the Bishop of Autun in the 10th century. The porch, the old vicarage and the tower of Luzy are the last remnants. Romanesque church (eleventh and twelfth centuries), cooler, Castle Montrifaut of Anglo-Norman.

Many activities on offer: riding stables, lake, recreation area, fishing, pottery, Mont Dardon (506 m), and numerous hiking trails (old route to St Jacques), green label station.

Issy-l'Évêque remains and will remain unique because of its history: in 1789 it was the first Republic of France through his priest, Father Carion, who heads the Third Estate and proclaimed the Republic of Issy Mountain. Recently, the 2005 prize was awarded Renaudot posthumously Irene Nemirovsky for her book "Suite Fançaise" written Issy-l'Évêque. A place bears his name and a plaque was placed on the house where his family stayed.
