Bourg High Country, Hucqueliers, capital of canton in the arrondissement of Montreuil-sur-Mer was built between two steep hills on a clump of hills separating the basins of the Aa and Canche. Once humble village, construction of a castle by Hurepel Philippe, Comte de Boulogne, assured the safety of the population hucqueloise and allowed the growth of the town.
The town and its castle and the entire region was occupied from 1596 to 1598 by a Spanish army, then returned by the Treaty of Vervins. Old houses, a 17th century and 17th century manor house with its beautiful loft are the last witnesses of a rich and long history. The original castle, built in late Gothic period, was destroyed in 1662 during the fighting that will end the revolt Lustucrus. On the hillside, the church dedicated to Saint Andrew (fifteenth century) has three naves. Formerly Annex Preures, Hucqueliers became a parish February 7, 1799. In the early 19th century on the site and the hillside, we built a large mansion of red brick, framed by two towers (one on the right is another circular and polygonal).
