Visible from afar, the village of Hautefort has the most beautiful and most impressive castle style classic throughout the Perigord. • Castle Hautefort:

• The elegant silhouette of the castle Hautefort looming atop a plateau overlooking the valleys of Bauza and Heavy, two tributaries of Auvézère. • Former hospice Hautefort:

• Former hospice Hautefort exudes a strength and a lofty image, in this village of Perigord Perigord Noir. Founded in 1669 by Jacques-Francois Marquis of Hautefort following a royal edict of Louis 14th in 1662 which advocated the creation of provincial areas of poor reception, it remains a rare type of the hospital foundation.
• Since 1994, it houses a museum of medicine with one hand a historical part about living in this building (reconstruction of a sick room, exposed the political, economic and social aspects of 17th century .. .) and also a section on the history of medicine told through permanent and temporary exhibitions.
