Vestige inevitable battles that were developed in Alsace during World War II, the Maginot Line extends Roeschwoog Bitche across the northern Vosges.

A Hatten, you will discover two books. These sites are places of memory that can better understand what happened during the Second World War in Northern Alsace and what has been suffering the soldiers and the population of Alsace.

• The Museum of Shelter - Hatten:

• The shed located 1 km behind the Maginot Line was used as barracks during the war the crews of bunkers and contained about 240 beds. The museum as we know it today is dedicated to civilian casualties, the German and American veterans who fought in and around the village of 9 to 21 January 1945 during Operation Nordwind launched by Hitler, and the "Despite Us".
• Opening: From March 1 to November 11th: Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 12pm and from 14h to 18h - Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 to 18 without interruption. From 15 June to 15 September: Open every day.
• Length of Visit: 2-3 hours.

• The Infantry Casemate Esch - Hatten:

• Built in 1931, it was integrated into the defenses of the Fortified Sector of Haguenau, between the work of Hochwald and Rhine. This bunker was occupied at first of 1939-40 by the 23rd Infantry Regiment of Fortress who attended in support of fighting in June 1940 during the attack on the enemy bunkers and Aschbach Oberroedern . Then, for Operation Nordwind in January 1945, she successively taken and retaken by the Germans and Americans. Today the monument is marked by fierce fighting which has been Hatten and its surroundings.
• Open: Every Sunday from May to September included: 10am to 12pm and from 13:30 to 18h.
• Visit time: 30 minutes.
