Guebwiller is located 23 km northwest of Mulhouse and 25 miles southwest of Colmar in the Vosges and the entrance to the valley Florival (or Lauch Valley, named after the river that runs through it ). Le Grand Ballon, highest point of the Vosges, is located 8 km as the crow flies west of the city, which is the name commonly Guebwiller ball.
The history of Guebwiller is initially linked to the abbey of Murbach. The core of the current city is built around the Romanesque church of Saint-Leger and Burgstall castle. Enclosed by ramparts between 1270 and 1287, Guebwiller is from the 13th century and the revolution, the administrative capital of the Principality of Abbey Murbach. In 1759, Abbey received his transfer to Murbach Guebwiller. The Frauenkirche is then built houses surrounded by canons. During the revolution, the abbey's assets are sold to industrial developers and Guebwiller quickly became the second industrial center after high-Rhin Mulhouse. The urban landscape is altered by the construction of factories, villas and housing estates outside the city.
- Guebwiller is sometimes called the "City of three churches":
- The Church of Saint-Léger: late Romanesque style, was built in pink sandstone from 1182 to 1235 under the leadership of the abbot of Murbach, replacing a chapel in one place.
- The former convent of the Dominicans: Built in the 14th century according to the typical architecture of the mendicant orders. It is composed of convent buildings, a church and a cloister. The nave is decorated with remarkable mural paintings (14th to 17th century). Today the convent houses a cultural center: The Dominicans of Haute Alsace offering all year many concerts, exhibitions and events in different areas of the building. The nave of the Gothic church is famous for its acoustics, one of the best in Europe.
- The Church of Our Lady and the canonical neighborhood: In 1759, the religious Murbach obtain the transfer of their abbey at Guebwiller. In 1763 the construction site of the neo-classical church starts. It is surrounded by canonical houses, the deanery, which now houses the museum Théodore Deck and Florival Countries.
- The museum Théodore Deck and Florival Countries: The museum is open year round Monday through Friday (except Tuesday) from 14h to 18h and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 am to noon and from 14h to 18h. It has 5 floors all aspects of the heritage of the city. The museum also houses and especially the largest collection in the world (550 items approx) of ceramics by Theodore Deck, a major 19th-century ceramics and a native of Guebwiller.
- The vineyard Guebwiller is the largest in Alsace, it is also the only one from four wines.
- The remains of the castle Hugstein, located between the towns of Guebwiller and Buhl, and 13th century.
- Park La Marseillaise: This park developed between 1897 and 1899 by renowned landscape architect Edouard André in Paris and classified as "remarkable gardens" in 2005, is also conducive to daydreaming than in botany. It is located downtown in an area of 15,400 sqm and is open to the public at all times. It has been completely renovated to mark the centenary of the death of its creator.
- Weekly markets, on the Place de l'Hotel de Ville on Tuesday and Friday morning.

- Abbey Murbach: Located about 5 km east of Guebwiller, Murbach village is famous for its Romanesque Abbey of remarkable architectural composition. Built in pink sandstone in the early 12th century, the church boasts, without doubt, the oldest Gothic vaults of Alsace. The walker will also notice on the facades of the sculptures still rough, but very expressive. Also discover the village, the medieval garden and chapel Notre-Dame de Lorette dating from the late 17th century.
- The old town of Soultz: The streets are full of hidden treasures. You can discover its Gothic church built between 1260 and 1489, its growers' houses dating from the Renaissance and recognizable by their bay windows and turrets of their staircase, the castle-museum Bucheneck, and the Ship of toys installed in buildings the former commander's order of Malta.
- The Basilica of Our Lady of Thierenbach is located in a green setting at the foot of the Grand Ballon and the Hartmannswillerkopf. The origins of this important place of pilgrimage back to the 8th century. The current basilica was rebuilt in the 18th century in a baroque style. It is notable for its impressive interior and its many ex-votos.
- The College of Lautenbach: This building has a remarkable westwork dating from the 12th century. The nave also dates robust 12th century and the chancel dates from the 13th century. Art lovers will appreciate the novel gate considered one of the most spectacular of Alsace with its carved decoration of great wealth, and its cycle of sculpture representing sin.
- The Hartmannswillerkopf: Located 956 meters above sea level, the Hartmannswillerkopf is one of four national monuments of the Great War during which he was a strategic battleground. Approximately 30,000 soldiers were killed there, mostly in 1915 and 1916. Historical monument in 1921, it was arranged through a national subscription. Today, the battlefield, maintained and signposted, is one of the best preserved in France.
- The Vivarium Mill: Located in Lautenbach-Zell, the museum occupies a former flour mill. The miller has long since deserted places. Now, tenants at least unexpected open the doors: insects, spiders, centipedes and company have succeeded him.
- Ski resorts of Markstein and the Grand Ball: The Markstein culminating at 1240 m has an extensive network of trails for downhill skiing, which benefits the snowmaking and lighting for night skiing.
