Population: 890 inhabitants.

History:

The earliest traces of occupation have been discovered on the fortified site of St. Evroult who was himself occupied from the 1st century.

In the Middle Ages, the Lordship of the parish was annexed to the castle of Vaux.

The common Gesnes has based much of its economy on weaving, we have also identified up to 500 jobs. This economy has completely disappeared in the early 20th century (1913, 9 trades remained).

Oppidum de Saint Evroult: also called "spur crossed. Through archaeological excavations, three major periods of construction were highlighted: the Bronze Age, the Gallo-Roman and Carolingian period.

The Church of St. Peter, dedicated initially to St. George, its construction dates back in its oldest parts of the Romanesque period and more precisely in the 12th century. Its originality lies in the architectural presence of a porch at the west entrance called caquetoire which was especially reserved for non-baptized persons to whom the church entrance was forbidden.

The blacksmith: rare surviving example of visible shoeing. Its composition is classic with a building that houses the workshop and the fire of the forge and a timber canopy under which the marshal proceeded to the laying of the irons.
