Gannat yesterday ...

Later in the past, Gannat is an ancient city at the northern end of the opulent plain Limagne. Its inhabitants, who reported to the tribe of Avernes, took part in the struggle against Caesar Vercingetorix. The city was located then at the site of the church Saint-Etienne. The pagan temple erected there, there are still remnants of columns and the beautiful statue of the God Sucullus (visible in the museum Machelon).
