The town of Gabillou located in the heart of the mesa "white" Jurassic today seems like a small town. It was in fact the center of one of the largest castellanies Perigord. The church dates from the late 12th century. It is regrettable that the changes it has suffered have wiped out the few vestiges of its ancient origin attested: yet the two side chapels added in the 14th century remain and together with the rest of the building, the cross.
