Capital County Gaure the bastide Fleurance was founded in 1272 by Gerald of Cazaubon (a local lord) and Eustache de Beaumarchais (acting on behalf of the king of France). The top of a small hill called Montaglon (Mount acorns), was chosen to establish the centrality of the new city. The role of this place, square and 60 m on each side is to promote trade. In its center, we built the house together. The streets are straight and intersect at right angles is a country house!

Eustache de Beaumarchais liked to call the city he founded by the great names of European cities. Fleurance (Florentia) is named after Florence, the famous city of Tuscany (Italy).

• The market:

• At the heart of the square, the home town of Fleurance originally had 28 wooden pillars that supported the roof. The second hall was built in the 16th century. She was always on wooden pillars and deteriorated quickly. It became urgent to rebuild it, but funds are lacking. In 1833, she was engulfed in flames. The mayor then and his council eventually find the funds necessary to build a new stone building, inaugurated in 1837. Hall current, third, was built between 1834 and 1837 by architect Auch, Ardennes. Upstairs is the Town Hall. All respects the medieval principle: maximum space and minimum footprint.
• In the spirit of Beaumarchais, Hall showed the dominance of civil power over the religious power.

• Sponsored by Hubert Reeves, the Festival of Astronomy Fleurance is the major annual gathering of astronomy. Since 1990, every summer, in August, Fleurance, meet in effect twenty figures and young researchers and hosts thousands of fans and curious about the sky in a particularly friendly atmosphere.
• Conferences all ages, complete cycles of training consisting of lectures and practical workshops (beginners or advanced), various entertainments, parties observation with exceptional instruments, form the content of this event.
