• The Fort du Cap Levi

• Built under the First Empire, Fort Cape Levi was built from 1801 to Napoleon's request, to protect coastal shipping in the vast bay of Cherbourg by putting ships to protect its artillery and defend Levi port. This semi-circular battery of 35 meters in diameter with two guns was 24, with 11 other batteries, the defenses of the Cotentin coast against the British navy.
• Several times altered but still incomplete, it has been more defensive role in the early 20th century. It will resume the service during the First and Second World Wars.
• Requisitioned in 1940 and then bombed, it is in ruins, when purchased in 1953. The right side would have been damaged during a strafing of British airman returning from a bombing action on the radar Maupertus and wishing to return empty to the United Kingdom.
