Small town with over 500 inhabitants situated in Upper Normandy, on the banks of the Seine estuary in the department of Eure.

His story ...

Origin of name: Fastovilla 1140.

The village Fastulf, name of person Germanic or Scandinavian, Scandinavian assumed to be preferred because of the presence of several other Fatouville in Normandy. The term Grestain has been added to Fatouville when connecting to the old common-Carbec Grestain in 1844.

On October 9, 1744, Parish Grestain is attached to Carbec (Carbec-Grestain), 100 years later, June 25, 1844, is attached to Fatouville-sur-Mer (Fatouville-Grestain).

In the 11th century, a considerable village existed near the abbey under the name of Saint-Ouen-de-Grestain. Partially destroyed by fire in 1122, he disappeared in 1750 under heavy blows sea

Today, there are two distinct parts in this county.

At the top of the cliff, on the hill, is perched village Fatouville, surrounded by many small hamlets.

Below, beside the Seine Estuary, lie the villages of Grestain, Carbec or Jobles.

Along the Seine, marshes contain a fauna and flora quite astonishing.

Marked trail "Trail of the old lighthouse": the start is located in the village, not far from the church. This trail, which borrows from both the small roads, but also forest trails, through all the interesting points of Fatouville: church, lighthouse, church Carbec the Inglemare (it's a pond full of reeds in which according to legend, the English who participated in the Hundred Years War were buried).
