At the gates of Langon, the motorway exit of Two Seas, Fargues is a rural, forestry and viticulture, the first step on the circuit of Sauternes.

Quiet and relaxing Fargues provides infrastructure and social achievements worthy of a small town, and offers year-round attraction for many activities in the fields of culture and sport.

It was Raymond Guilhem, a nephew of Clement V, who built the present castle in the 14th century, in which some inhabitants found refuge in Langon in taking the city by the Prince de Conti. From this castle remain today only as grandiose ruins, as it was ravaged by fire in 1687.

The Notre Dame has a Romanesque sculptures delicate. It houses a beautiful statue of the Virgin painted wooden 15th century.

Several of Sauternes wine chateaux are open to visitors, including the prestigious Chateau Rieussec and Top Claverie.

There is also a horse farm.
