• Fains-la-Folie, rural village in the Beauce, Chartres Country means the end. It is south of Canton Voves and covers 2,165 hectares of which approximately 70 acres of woods.
• The municipality of Fains-la-Folie consists of two towns: Fain (Faing in Dunois from 1719 to 1750) and La Folie Herbault, joint together by order of King Louis Philippe of France, dated April 28, 1834.
• It includes:

• 4 hamlets: La Folie Herbault (Folia Herbaldi); Auffains, belonging half to Fains-la-Folie and Baignolet; Tortois; Amoinville.
• 3 place-names: Brainville; Martainville; The Chardonniere.

• It has:

• A multi-purpose hall built since 1982.
• A town hall, renovated in 1990.
• A playground.

• The town is part of the Community of Municipalities of the Beauce Vovéenne and Pays de Beauce.
• In 1980, the decrease in enrollment forced the closure of the local school. The children are grouped with schools Voves. Today, 25 students attend schools in Intercommunal Syndicate of Educational Grouping sector Voves.
• The municipality has artisans, farms, a grain storage silo about 1 million hundredweight, and a nightclub.
• There is an increase of the population (20%) between the 1999 census: 269 Finns and Finoises and 2006: 321 inhabitants. The town has 168 houses including 36 homes.
• In the last quarter of the 19th century was built the way of railway single track: Chartres-Orleans. Currently it is reserved for traffic of goods and services the grain silo. Two Roman roads crossed the perpendicular: Roman road of Le Mans-Sens and Chartres-Orleans.

• The town of Fains-la-Folie:

• The church of Saint Julien Fains-la-Folie: The chancel arch and the date from the end of 12th beginning of 13th century. The nave was restored in 1892. The altar, marble and local stone, was erected in 1893. Inside the statues are made of wood and probably date from the 15th century. One can observe that of Christ, that of St. Julian, patron saint of the parish, soldier martyr who was beheaded and St Etienne. There are two bells, the oldest is named "Mary" and was blessed August 28, 1740. The other named "Juliette Henriette" was blessed in 1809. The two windows of the choir represent Eugenie and Ste Foy Ste. Those of the nave, the martyrdom of St Julien, St Louis education, St. Joan of Arc listening to her voice and St. Therese of the Child Jesus. The left, Our Lady of Lourdes and St Christophe. The Way of the Cross in 1896. Some personalities are buried in the village church. The gravestones are visible inside.
• The moats and turrets: In the 18th century, the Sieur de Fain, styled Marquis Jean de Pré, lord of the fishmeal and Fain, occupied a mansion built on the foundations of a castle. This house had a floor and walls of cob, a fire destroyed it and he was shot in 1889 to make way for the current building built in 1900. All that remains of the moat, turrets and two underground. The farmhouse dates from the reign of Louis the 16th and the tithe barn still exists. The church Fains was probably the chapel because even now is part enclave in the current property. The cemetery around the church originally was moved Voves road during the construction of the nave.

• The Madness Herbault:

• The fortified farm: It was the former residence of the lords of Herbault. Originally there was a castle dating from the 11th century. It was destroyed because it was in ruins. There are two beautiful caves with rock-cut vaults strengthened by arches of hewn stone. A new castle was built in the 17th century with turrets and milling site of arquebuses. In 1680 the lords of Herbault it gave hospitality to Prince Thomas of Savoy, Count of Soissons, Governor of Champagne and Olympe Mancini, niece of Mazarin, who was the matron of the children of Louis XIV. They were married at the Chapel of La Folie Herbault November 16, 1675.
• La Chapelle Saint Jacques: It is a route of Saint Jacques de Compostela, this small rural church seduced by its careful construction and the elegance of its belfry. It is classified a historical monument since May 1905. Its architectural features show that it was made in one came in during the 13th century. The chapel, however, presents various alterations and some dates engraved us about these successive transformations. Since 1978 significant work was undertaken: coverage, façade restoration, identification and consolidation of wall paintings, installation and electrification of a new bell: Mary, restoration of four statues from the classified inventory of Goods: Crucifix 1697 polychrome wood; Saint Jacques, polychrome stone statue of the 16th century St. Barbara, polychrome stone statue of the 16th century Bishop Saint (unidentified), polychrome stone statue of 1639.

• Fains-la-Folie is winning the contest of floral villages in 1999 and earned the label "flower village of France". The town was labeled "the third flower" in 2010. The municipality grants a special interest in the environment and quality of life both in the town than in villages. More than three quarters of the networks are now buried, interlocking brick sidewalks have been made in the town center, each year new plantings embellish the living. This pleasant living environment creates a dynamic and encourages people to participate in the development of the structure into compliance with local tradition.
