Located in the heart of the Vendée near La Roche-sur-Yon, 65 km from Nantes and 35 km of coastline.
Already inhabited in the Neolithic period, the remaining vestiges of that era.
The town dates from the Gallo-Roman.
Around a priory in the Middle Ages, has built a town, unfortunately all traces of the priory have disappeared.
The town has seen the passage of the infernal columns, and monuments were destroyed in 1793 during the Vendée wars.
An FFI maquis was formed in 1944 and airdrops of weapons took place.
Airport Dompierre is very active, light aircraft, gliding, parachuting, scheduled to Nantes.
