Threshold of green Puisaye Diges has 62 hamlets scattered over 3,590 hectares including 1,000 hectares of wood, mostly hardwoods with a large number of chestnut trees.
Diges, like much of the Puisaye, was owned by Saint-Germain who gave it to his cathedral.
In the late 10th century, a new donation made to pass under the dependence of the Abbey of Saint-Germain of Auxerre, and will remain there until the Revolution.
In the 12th century to protect its ambitions of the feudal domain of neighbors, especially the barons Toucy, Abbe Gervais was surrounded by walls of the village Diges and, inside, a fortress built of quadrangular four-quartered Round towers and surrounded by moats. Of these four rounds, it remains three.
This castle, entered the inventory of historical monuments since 1931, was the home of monks and the abbot when they came to Diges, mainly to receive the tithes.
In 1404, during the Hundred Years War, Diges was taken and plundered by the English.
The castle, restored in 1576, had still to suffer from disorders of the Wars of Religion and the Fronde.
Inside the castle walls, there was a chapel replaced late 12th century, early thirteenth, a church, rebuilt in the 16th century.
The buildings are of ironstone, which gives them a stamp austere, but typically poyaudin. The facade of the church is of white stone.
The greatest wealth of the country was operating the ocher. Sauilly deposits, which provided a quality tan, were closed in 1936

The green foliage, the picturesque village attracted the famous poet Mary Christmas, which for many years, made his favorite resting place, she drew on the wealth of local inspiration.
