The medieval city of The Hague in Touraine, owes its present name in Descartes philosopher and mathematician of international renown, Rene Descartes, who was born March 31, 1596. His birthplace, now a museum dedicated to him.
Heritage House, a beautiful 19th century building, near the museum Descartes, presents the second important figure in the city, the writer René Boylesve Descartes born in The Hague April 14, 1867. A collection of lace caps and Touraine are also exposed and a small museum of prehistory and geology.
