City Actively Touraine South Descartes is located at the entrance to the valley of the Creuse Touraine, halfway between the castles of the Loire, the Parc de la Brenne and Futuroscope. The true val Touraine between the plates and wood-crowned hills of Touraine and Poitou is a mecca of prehistory.

There are over 500 000 years, man settled there to exploit the flint cutting and shaping provided knives, axes or punches, tools essential to survival and which were exported in many countries of europe.

Descartes is, from the earliest times, a popular crossing point and a major industrial city.

The medieval town of La Haye en Touraine, owes its current name Descartes philosopher and mathematician of international renown, Descartes Rene, who was born March 31, 1596. His birthplace now houses a museum dedicated to him.

The Heritage House, a beautiful 19th century residence, near the museum Descartes presents the second important figure of the city, the writer René Boylesve born in The Hague Descartes April 14, 1867. A collection of hats and lace Touraine are also exposed and a small museum of prehistory and geology.

With its historical strengths, its picturesque natural setting, with Descartes has many amenities that will satisfy everyone's tastes.
