A small village located within the Regional Natural Park of Millevaches in Limousin.

Darnets name comes from a proper name Gallic Darno.

The earliest traces of settlement dating from the Gallic and Roman periods that have left many vestiges including homes and graves. The "cross of twigs", located at the main entrance of the village, is one of the oldest in the Massif Central.

The Church of St. Martin de Tour-et-Saint-Maurice, is located on the town, its architecture is varied from its founding in the 12th century and its subsequent transformations. The decor is marked by the influence of local lords and the bourgeoisie (the keystone of arms Soudeilles, painting works in the family Cibille). The church contains an important religious treasures and beautiful sculptures. A remarkable ordeal is under the chapel located on the square near the church.

In the 17th century, Henri de Montmorency, and Henri de Ventadour, the latter accompanied by his lieutenant to Soudeilles Annet, disagree with the last orders of Richelieu (1632). They raise an army against the royal power and lose the battle against the troops of the king and the cardinal's many more. The lord of the castle Ventadour joined the Voulte (near Aubenas, Ardeche), Annet Soudeilles takes refuge in Lieuteret (Darnets). The Duke of Montmorency was executed in Toulouse, his body is returned to his widow in 1645 and a solemn mass in his honor is celebrated in the church of Darnets. One liter funeral held in the church (four in total three inside and one outside) dates back to the event.
