In the Middle Ages, Cuverville depends Abbey Troarn and derives its name from "Cuilvert", "Culvertivilla", "Culveravilla. The lords of the Ménardière ruled Cuverville from 1459 to 1642 and were buried in the church where the tombstones are still visible, some were mutilated during the Revolution.
Cuverville was affected at 85% and 15% of the population was killed or injured. It was released July 18, 1944 during the Anglo-Canadian "Goodwood". The city received the Croix de Guerre December 11, 1948. This town is also part of District of Greater Caen.
