It was through him that the local farmers quickly became expert in weaving and rope. The Royal Navy also had to obtain supplies of sails and rigging. In the early 19th century, one jack-in-all, Mr Capon, devised a method of weaving to use scraps of textile fabrics for making thick, soft and warm coverage was born. Much prosperity ensued, and has allowed the village to reach its letters of nobility. Since then, the quilt has cooled the ardor, but the town has managed to shift to new products (metallurgical and construction) that make a city industrial and artisanal.
