The common Couhé is located southwest of the department of Vienne, 30km from Poitiers, 45 km from the Futuroscope, near Deux-Sèvres and Charente, Poitou threshold.
Its history: Origin of present name, the Latin toponym Colnacio drift may be the name of a landowner. From 11th to 14th century, wrote Cohec, Coec sometimes Coyhet then Couhé the mid 14th century.
Adding "Vérac" appears in the 17th century, when the old barony became Marquessate.
Most houses were built of timber, timbered, and had the first floor overhang.
Located on the Paris-Bordeaux, this little town came into prominence during the organization of the post by Louis 11th in 1742 and 1743.
