Originally the village was called "Cormeliae" which means "The Cormeilles", implying the existence of several communities united in a single forming a borough. Constitute the three parishes: St. Peter, St. Sylvester and St. Croix as the French Revolution has split into three separate municipalities: Saint-Pierre-de-Cormeilles, Saint-Sylvestre-de-Cormeilles and Cormeilles.

Cormeilles is now a town of the Pays d'Auge of 1230 inhabitants located in the valley of Calonne. Valley which is named after the river that runs through and is a confluence of Touques. Calonne is the only river in the department of Eure who did not cast into the Seine.

The town of Cormeilles is known for its many shops, antique dealers, antique dealers, but also for its architectural heritage.

For starters, the Holy Cross Church is located on the heights of Cormeilles. It is unique in Normandy! The nave rises gently (9%) to the transept, with an organ at the same level as the main altar. This church dates from the 11th century but has undergone major revisions in the 15th and 18th centuries. Its architecture has two styles: Romanesque and Gothic-arched Norman.

At the foot of the church, the Mont Mirel, once the shopping center where Cormeilles stood in the last century a poultry market.

In the center, the "Bonhomme Cormeilles" wooden sculpture of the 16th century, located on the cornice of the old pharmacy. The story goes that this "Sir" before the roads Cormeilles, once very popular as it is an old Roman road which connected Lillebonne Lisieux.

Also to discover the town hall, theater, laundry ... but House Auge and Calvados, located on the road to Lisieux, where you can discover the history of this slow process that turns apples into the amber nectar, calvados: selection of apples, distillation assembly and aging in oak barrels sometimes centuries old. The Musical Cormeilles: several quality concerts offered in July to August at various sites in the canton (church, manor ...).

The antique fair in Morainville-Jouveaux: 36 years, the antique fair in Morainville-Jouveaux attracts over 6,000 amateur antiques around 15 August.

Chips Cormeilles: 2nd Sunday of October, more than 220 exhibitors are found in the streets of the town for the traditional fair at all.
