TOWN PRESENTATION

Conty Picard is a small town south of the Somme (20 km from Amiens in 20 minutes, 6 miles from Junction 17 on A16), located in the valley of the Selle at the confluence of two rivers: the saddle and Evoissons. This valley, dotted with small rural villages with castles, churches and water mills plus many natural resources (wood, rivers, ponds) has successfully played the card of "green tourism".

Chief town of Canton, Conty approximately 1700 inhabitants. The city has many shops, activities and services: day care, nursery school setting to college, retirement home ...

Its proximity to Paris and Amiens, the regional capital, is promoting its development.

SIGHTSEEING

The Green Casting:

The Green Casting takes the plate of an old railway track linking Amiens to Beauvais downgraded by SNCF. It follows the valley floor and crosses the saddle eight municipalities of the Somme between Bacouël-of-saddle and Monsures, a distance of 17 km. It continues until Crévecoeur the Great, in the Oise. His starting point, Bacouël-sur-Selle, is only 8 km from Amiens.
From its inception, the Coulee Verte ambition was to be not only a pleasant hiking trail, but also a Nature Trail offers visitors the opportunity to discover the natural environments, heritage of the valley. Panels have been created and placed along the axis. The Nature Trail can also be used to support discovery classes and field trips.
It is accessible to all types of hiking (hiking, biking and equestrian) with the exception of motorized hiking.
The "windows" were created in order to provide hedges views of a landscape or heritage.

Castle Wailly:

High on the edge of the terrace, the castle must go back to the 1630s. It has a narrow central pavilion flanked by broad wings, the latter flanked by prominent facades of pavilions, joined at the sides. In the South, an intermediate body disposed bracket connects to a second body building, parallel to it, housing and housing service dependencies. This second building backs directly onto the chalky cliff, which is the present castle.
