Comps is located in the canton of Bourg en Gironde which has 15 municipalities: Saint-Ciers Canesse de Saint-Trojan, Samonac, Villeneuve, Gauriac, Teuillac, Saint-Seurin-de-Bourg, Bayon-sur-Gironde, Tauriac , Prignac-and-Marcamps, Pugnac, Lansac, Bourg and Mombrier.

The village is located in Upper Comps Gironde, near the citadel of Bourg and Blaye. The occupation of its land back to prehistory, 166 acres, 115 were allocated to the vine that 45 owners were divided into the 19th century.
