A 10 km south of the sources of the Verdon, is a common Colmars Mercantour National Park. That's all the sun of Provence with the rich flora and fauna Alpine.

Located 70 km from Digne-les-Bains, 160 km from Nice and 180 km from Marseille.

Colmars is characterized by its beautiful architecture, classic military. Several stages of fortification in the fourteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Historic sites: The ramparts with the walkway and the house museum. The Fort de France and the Fort de Savoie (Vauban).

Mountain village surrounded by the rushing waters of the Verdon, Colmars-les-Alpes, common Mercantour National Park, has an extremely rich natural and preserved.

Many events enliven the village with the seasons:

June: Feast of St. John the Baptist: The Colmarsiens are very attached to the feast of their patron saint, which combines religion (offices, pilgrimage, fire of Saint John), military tradition (parades of firemen dressed in Napoleon III) and purely festive events (dances, playground, picnic).

The second Sunday of August and the previous Saturday: Medieval Festival. Back in the past centuries. The soldiers are working in the camps. Troubadours, acrobats, fire eaters and other mix with beggars, wenches and knights. Costumed parades, medieval banquet, fireworks are among the highlights of these days.

The second week-end of September: Festival of the book. Meet the authors, signings discussions in the cafes.

The first weekend of the Thanksgiving holiday: The Escapades. The Escapades of yesteryear depict the old trades such as sawyers, Bugadières, grinders, rope ... The market at the old folk music, many people give this costume party a special atmosphere for lovers of the past. On Saturday evening vigil with chestnuts and mulled wine is offered with tales and tall stories. On Sunday, after Mass, meals in local restaurants.
