City Cognac must not only its international reputation to the product to which it gave its name François 1er and Jean Monnet took place there.
Cognac was a small village until the mid 10th century. The oldest known mention of this city (under the name Comniacum) date of 1030. Cognac rapidly becoming a major center of commercial activity Angoumois and Saintonge, with its river port, the traffic of sea salt, wine and eaux-de-vie.

Located in the former Hotel Dupuy Angeac to the heart of the park, it houses the municipal collections since 1925. You will find paintings, sculptures and a magnificent collection of glass pieces by Emile Gallé, Daum and Lalique Jean. Archaeological collections from deposits Gallo-Roman and Merovingian in the region are also presented.

| ATTRACTIONS, LEISURES AND ACTIVITES AROUND |
- Ars: Home to a famous family who has illustrated both in battle and in literature, the town of Ars "Saintonge" covers an area of marshes, lush, rich in aquatic fauna and flora and the church and former rectory (now the town hall) are prominent elements of the heritage of the town.
- Boutiers-Saint-Trojan: A walk in these places to discover some interesting views on the two valleys, Soloire and the Charente, and the lovely church of St Marmet cemetery with a small traditional church Saint-Trojan.
- Breville: Located in the Netherlands to Cognac, Breville shows a landscape of meadows, vineyards and woods where scattered villages with evocative names of the land (the Sew, Forest ...).
