At 40 minutes from Nantes, a few miles from the banks of the Loire Valley Clisson is located in the heart of the Nantes vineyards, at the junction of the Loire-Atlantique, Vendée and Anjou. Land nurtured by the Sevre and Maine, two rivers that give character to the Muscadet of the same name, the valley turns Clisson Italian and Breton when we think of Clisson heritage, historic city where the unique tile and brick are mixed with slate and granite. History: At the crossroads of three former provinces, Anjou, Poitou, Brittany, Clisson Valley has a fascinating history that traces the time until about the 11th century. The most prosperous period of the Middle Ages and belonging to the Duchy of Brittany still mark many of the buildings. Famous people have inhabited the imposing castle Clisson Olivier as the 5th or Constable Francis II, father of Anne of Brittany ... During the wars of Vendee, late eighteenth century, the valley suffered the brunt of the violence of fighting. The arrival of three characters in love with Italy is then the starting point for a renaissance: the brothers Frederick and Cacault Lemot introduce the Italian architecture in the reconstruction of the valley ...
