The joint has Chazemais localities with names rather unusual: He Is All, Work Flirty, scraper-Chien, the darkies, La Queue d'Hirondelle, The Wolf and The Thatch Gironde. The names of the Cross in May and the wood may come from the custom of the boys wanted to bring a bouquet of flowers at the door for girls to marry the night of 1 May
The nickname of the inhabitants of Chazemais, burns, back to the religious wars that flared up the country. Indeed, by displacing the Protestant refugees from Crete to the castle, the royal troops had burned everything in their path, including Chazemais. Another version says that the name comes from the color of a low-grade ore of iron, operated until 1914, which outcrops in some areas and has left traces in the names of the town, such as Pierre-Red or Brûlefers.
St. Anne's Church: The church, built in red sandstone in the valley of the Cher, is listed as an historic monument since 1952. His choir, the transept and the south transept date from the 12th century when the north transept was rebuilt in the fifteenth. Initially made up of flat tiles, the roof had to be modified during the campaign work by replacing the cover of the south transept by the hollow tile, more adapted to the slope. The choir, rectangular and flat bed, has a beautiful 19th century fresco, representing Christ in glory surrounded by the four Evangelists and their symbols each isolated in a cartridge. The main altar was donated by General d'Auvergne, owner of The Castle Bouchatte.
Castles: The town was divided into many small fiefs not dependent châtellenie all the same, which led to the construction of many castles on the town and surrounding area: Crete, Chauvière, Puy Bouillard, the Bussieres Nonnains. Unfortunately, there are only very few. A Chauvière, there remains only the base of the keep and Puy Bouillard was razed. The castle of Bouchatte him, was built by General Louis Henri d'Auvergne in 1875. Sold to the city of Montluçon in 1931, he again became privately owned since 2004.
Central France: In 1966, IGN is the center of France, including Corsica, to Villevendret. However, several municipalities are fighting this title and claim to be the middle of the hexagon. These include, for example Saint-Amand-Montrond, Saulzais-le-Potier and Bruere-Allichamps in the Cher. The assessments differ from the inclusion of the islands, reliefs, etc ... In 1984, after precise calculations by computer, the center would be at a place called the Courcière the town of Vesdun. In 1990, the IGN review its calculations and decided quite officially that it would be in La Brande Murat, area located in the town of Nassigny.
