Between 1822 and 1905, the College of Chauvé, church and school serving the children of the minor seminary Retz, trained men like the historian Pitre Knight Paimboeuf painter or sculptor Henri Rousseau.

Today Chauvé is a common peaceful and green. Enjoy the variety of its landscape: marshes, woods, pastures, hills, quarries, ponds, streams ...

For the record: "biquetaux" was the nickname used in dialect, there are still a few years by the children of the neighboring town, swearing over the Canal de Haute Perche. The nickname owes its origin to the Revolution, means "stubborn as small Biques".

• Natural Heritage:

• Marsh Haute Perche: This site seems to be the site of Portus Secor, a former Roman port who knew an important activity to the year 1400. In the 18th century, these marshes were in the Lord of the Bois-Joly.

• Historical and Cultural Heritage:

• The megaliths: the menhir of Lematz Pierre: menhir sandstone of 3.75 m. The menhir of Chevanou: menhir curious bottle-shaped, high of 4.10 m. The menhirs of Platen: menhirs sandstone unfinished, abandoned their holds on lifting, measuring between 4.40 m and 5.30 m. As the saying goes "between the three stones on the fly with a capon, a Treasure."
• The Castle of Newfoundland: the style of Louis 15th (1768-1770). Dismemberment of the lordship of Bois-Joly and former family property Bachelier de Bercy, then families and Teilhard Valeix. The castle now houses a nursing home.
• The 16th century noble house located in the river Mulon: Julien Ranou, aide de camp of General Humbert, who distinguished himself in the Irish expedition against the English in 1798 by entering the first in Castlebar, lived in this home.
• The mill of the Rigaudière: this mill has many crosses indicating the passage of various millers.

• Religious heritage:

• The church from the 19th century: the first Gothic Revival church in the department. Its magnificent façade is worth seeing. During the Second World War, its bell tower was largely destroyed.
• The square of priests erected in the early 19th century and located in the cemetery, the monument represents the busts of the priests of the parish.
• 1764 The rectory is a beautiful building overlooking the amusement park and now housing the municipal library.
• The Celtic cross is a small rustic granite Calvary. The circled cross, very old, was shot dead during the Revolution. Found in the brush, it is again erected. It is located on the DR 5 at a place called "Le Pin".
