Located at 106 meters, the village of Chaufour-Notre-Dame is in the Sarthe region and the Pays de la Loire, 10 km northwest of the city of Le Mans. Its inhabitants are called Calidofourniens and Calidofourniennes.

The village takes its name from lime kilns established on the town, whose presence and age are unknown. The Roman Road Le Mans-Jublains passes near the village, at a place called the Red House. During the Revolution, in 1793, Chaufour is the scene of the extermination of the remnants of the army Vendée. Around 1860, the creation of the royal road to the village of 157 allowed to develop.
