Between Dombes and Bresse, near the mountains of Beaujolais Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne is a city of 5,179 inhabitants which is characterized, first, by its dynamic economy and trade and, secondly, by the richness of its heritage, its pleasant lifestyle and beautiful environment.

- Les Halles:
- The house market in 1440 was replaced by Les Halles in the shape of a cathedral: 80 m long, 20 meters wide and 10 high. The building is divided into three spans supported by huge oak pillars on which rests the structure also in oak.
