Although installed in the grove Champagne, Châtillon-sur-Broué represents the area well with its charming half-timbered houses. His church is very beautiful original wood-framed, its square tower surprises. Long neglected, the churches of Champagne are now very much restored. The former had the practical sense, and built with the materials they had at their disposal: the clay and wood based architecture typical of the Champagne. The area was cleared from the Middle Ages by the monks of Montier-en-Der. They dug ponds and built mills.
Lac du Der (oak Celtic) was dug to prevent major flooding that Paris had known at the beginning of the 20th century. The lake was in talks for years, the need to amputate the beautiful forest and the disappearance of three villages rebelled Champagne who did not want the lake. Now, the largest reservoir in Western Europe is very involved in the revival of villages. It is beautiful this lake, it attracts tourists, and boats sail like an inland sea. Ranked natural area, the region receives migratory birds like cranes arriving by the hundreds.

In rosary, you ponds Grand Coulon and Forestry, both with an observatory. Further, the pond Outines is a nature reserve, you may find kites, coots, grebes, herons, cranes in autumn clouds come in flashy, geese, ducks and even swans wild.
