Between Burgundy and Champagne, Châteauvillain is located 22 km from Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises, a village dear to General De Gaulle. The city is ideally located on the main road connecting the north and the south of France 17 km from the A5 motorway (exit 23).
The image of Châteauvillain is most often associated with that of the deer park of 272 hectares, which is a delight for walkers, but it would be simplistic to confine to this single city finery. Indeed, the history of the medieval town through the centuries like an epic in itself deserves a visit.
Inscribed in the stone of its 2.6 km of walled enclosures of the 12th and 14th centuries, at the foot of its battlements, atop his twenty laps (there were once 60), as in its maze of alleys and patrol roads, this amazing story just waiting to unfold.
Charmingly nestled in a bend of the river Aujon, Châteauvillain is also a city of gardens in bloom, nestled in the old trenches dug into the limestone rock.
The small town museum housed in the Tower Auditorium can discover, among other things, the model room of the castles of the city. Guides lead you on the steps of the lords of Châteauvillain: John 1, the Duc de Vitry, the Duke of Penthievre (grand son of Louis 14th and Madame de Montespan) every day at 16h, from 15 June to 15 September and by appointment except in summer. From 15 June to 15 September: 2 permanent exhibition halls and three temporary exhibition rooms of the Tower of the Auditorium are open daily from 14h to 19h (Free admission).

Castle Dinteville: near Châteauvillain in a narrow valley leading to the Valley of the Dawn nearby Castle Dinteville Property of the Marquis of town Bauge and his wife, has a dual personality. Austere facade to look like typical military north of 16th century architecture, sober elegance of classic 18th century south. Approaching closer, the observer, to discover what a genius architect, succeeds in his time, through sham (fake windows painted plaster), the addition of pilasters or d ' embrasures to give a prominent 18th appearance at the severe facade of the sixteenth.
